Quick start

From a new account to a workflow that saves entries in TallyPrime. You do most of this once.

Before you begin
In TallyPrime press F1 → Connectivity → act as Both. It is off by default. Nothing works without it.
1. Create an application
2 min

Your automation platform uses this to sign in to Balancely.

  1. 1

    Open Applications → New application and name it.

  2. 2

    Choose your automation platform and paste the redirect URL from its guide.

  3. 3

    Copy the Client Secret now. It cannot be shown again.

2. Install the connector
3 min

On the computer where TallyPrime runs, download and double-click the connector. It is one file, with no installer and no admin rights. It shows a 6-character pairing code.

3. Connect TallyPrime
2 min
  1. 1

    Open Connections → Connect TallyPrime.

  2. 2

    Enter the pairing code from the connector.

  3. 3

    Choose the company to automate.

One connection = one company. For a second company, add a second connection.
4. Authorize from your platform
2 min

In your platform, create a TallyPrime connection with the Client ID and Secret. You then see our approval screen. Choose the TallyPrime connection and approve it. The exact fields are in the guides for n8n, Zapier and Make.

5. Build a workflow
3 min

Add a TallyPrime action, such as Create Sales Invoice, and map the fields. Ledger and item lists come live from your company, so you choose real names. Run it once. The result shows under Usage.

Calling the API directly

No automation platform? Everything is plain REST. See Authentication for the token.

curl -X POST http://localhost:4173/api/v1/tally/sales_invoices.create \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_ACCESS_TOKEN" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
  "date": "2026-04-12",
  "customer": "Aurora Traders",
  "sales_ledger": "Sales - GST 18%",
  "invoice_number": "INV-1042",
  "items": [ { "item": "Widget A", "quantity": 10, "rate": 250 } ],
  "taxes": [
    { "tax_ledger": "CGST", "amount": 225 },
    { "tax_ledger": "SGST", "amount": 225 }
  ]
}'
