Installing the connector

The Windows app that links your automations to TallyPrime on your own computer.

What it is
One file, no admin rights. It sits in the system tray. You do not need to open any ports.

Requirements

  • Windows 10 or later, 64-bit

  • TallyPrime running on the same computer

  • TallyPrime set to act as Both under Help (F1) > Settings > Connectivity > Client/Server configuration

  • An outbound internet connection

Turning on TallyPrime connectivity

People often miss this step. Nothing works without it. In TallyPrime:

  1. 1

    Press F1 to open Help.

  2. 2

    Choose Settings, then Connectivity.

  3. 3

Set TallyPrime is acting as to Both.

  4. 4

Keep the port at 9000. The connector only uses this port.

This only lets programs on that computer talk to TallyPrime. Nothing is open to the internet.

Installing

  1. 1

Download the connector on the computer that has TallyPrime.

  2. 2

Double-click it. Windows may show a SmartScreen notice. Choose More info, then Run anyway.

  3. 3

The window shows a 6-character pairing code. It works for five minutes.

  4. 4

In your dashboard, add a connection and enter that code. Then choose the company.

Keeping it running

  • It starts with Windows, so automations keep working after a restart. You can turn this off.

  • Closing the window keeps it in the tray. To stop it, choose Quit from the tray icon.

  • Keep the computer on and TallyPrime open. Otherwise automations cannot reach it.

What it can and cannot do

Detail
It canTalk to TallyPrime on the same computer, when an automation you built asks it to.
It cannotLook at your files, read other apps, or act on its own.
It neverKeeps your accounting data on the computer. It only passes data between TallyPrime and Balancely.
Its credentialIs locked to your Windows user on that computer. A copy on another computer or user does not work.

Using one installation for several connections

Add another connection from the dashboard. The connector shows a new pairing code. You do not need to install it again.

Pausing a connection

In the connector, open ···, then Connections. On the connection, open its menu and choose Pause: for 1 hour, until tomorrow, or until you resume it. While it is paused, entries for it fail. They are not saved later and do not count towards your plan. Choose Resume from the same menu to start again.

Letting support read the log

When you contact us, support can read the connector's recent log to see what went wrong. Amounts, GSTINs and passwords are hidden before anything leaves your computer. This is on by default. To turn it off, use View logs in the connector, or untick it when you install.
